This category returns for Firehouse 7s in 2024 and will feature points commensurate with player weight to add a spin to the traditional format. Points for trys will be awarded on weight categories with the below scoring breakdown, with weigh in at 2pm. These matches will kick-off around 4pm and go into the evening under the lights. Please provide team name and captain email address for more details as we get closer to the date.
Under 200lbs (pygmy hippo) - 1 point
201-240lbs (developing hippo) - 2 points
241-280lbs (proper hippo) - 4 points
Over 280lbs (hippo king) - 8 points
Make it, take it for conversion kicks - 1.5x multiplier for try points (i.e. hippo king score + conversion = 12 points)
3 matches total with rolling subs. Any trophy tiebreakers will be settled by boat race.
