CHICAGO BLAZE RUGBY CLUB – FALL 2026 SEASON PREVIEW
The Chicago Blaze Rugby Club enters the fall 2026 season riding the momentum of a landmark spring campaign, with both squads set on a shared goal: a double championship. Spring Recap: A National Quarterfinal Run The Blaze's D3 side capped off its undefeated run and Midwest Runner-Up finish with a deep national playoff push, winning a hard-fought Round of 16 match before falling in the National Quarterfinal. The result of that success? Promotion to Division 2. This fall, the squad will compete in the D2 Central League, stepping up to a new level of competition earned through a season of dominant, gritty rugby. A New Chapter, Same Leadership Luke White returns for another season as head coach, bringing continuity and proven leadership to a program on the rise. He'll be joined by a few new faces on the assistant coaching staff, adding fresh energy and expertise as the Blaze prepare for their toughest challenge yet. The Goal: A Double Championship With the D1 squad building on last year's near-playoff campaign and the newly-promoted D2 squad carrying serious momentum, the Blaze organization has its sights set on a double championship this fall — a title run for both squads. Growing the Game True to the club's roots, the Blaze remain committed to growing the sport and welcoming new talent. Trainings are held at the Blaze Rugby Fields every Tuesday and Thursday from 7–9pm, and all are welcome regardless of experience or skill level. The club will also organize extra match opportunities for players developing below the D2 level, ensuring more players get valuable time on the field as the Blaze continue to build depth and grow their numbers. Looking Ahead With strong coaching, a deep roster, and a clear vision, the Chicago Blaze Rugby Club is positioned for its most competitive fall season yet — one built on the foundation of last year's breakthrough success and a club-wide commitment to development at every level.
